COURSE INTRODUCTION

SHE REP: Safety, Health, and Environmental Representative. For persons wishing to perform SHE REP duties at their workplace.

In today’s dynamic and ever-evolving world, the importance of prioritising safety, health, and environmental considerations cannot be overstated. Whether you are a seasoned professional or just beginning your journey in the field, this one-day course is designed to equip you with the essential knowledge and skills to become an effective Safety, Health, and Environmental Representative (SHE REP).

Safety, health, and environmental concerns are integral aspects of any workplace, affecting not only the well-being of employees but also the sustainability and success of organisations. The role of a SHE REP is pivotal in ensuring that workplaces are safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible. COURSE CONTENT

  • Introduction to Occupational Health & Safety (OHS).
  • Overview of the OHS ACT (no 85 of 1993).
  • Overview of the General Safety & Administrative Regulations.
  • Section 17 – Health and Safety Representatives.
  • Section 18 – Functions of Health and Safety Representatives.
  • Section 19 – Health and Safety Committees.
  • Section 20 – Functions of Health and Safety Committees.
  • Workplace inspections.
  • Injury / accident reporting.
  • Control measures.
  • Employer & employee responsibilities.

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Read, write, & understand English.
  • Math literacy (ABET Level 3 – Grade 7).
  • Grade 7 certificate.

ASSESSMENT

  • Classroom assignments.
  • Workbook completion.
  • If found ‘not yet competent’, an attendance certificate will be issued

AWARD

  • First Aid Training SA certificate.
  • Digital certificates only.
  • Valid for 2 years.
  • Certificates will be issued within 10 working days from successful completion of training.
