COURSE CONTENT

  • Elementary anatomy and physiology.
  • Medico-legal implications – including consent.
  • Emergency scene management.
  • Primary & secondary survey.
  • CPR – one & two person; adult, child, & infant.
  • AED – Automated external defibrillator.
  • Respiratory distress – including artificial respiration.
  • Choking – blocked airway; adult, child, & infant.
  • Circulatory shock.
  • Wounds & bleeding.
  • Burns & fractures.
  • Unconsciousness & fainting.
  • Head & spinal injuries.
  • Environmental injuries & illnesses.
  • Poisoning, bites, & stings.
  • Records of incident / accident report.

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Read, write, & understand English.
  • Math literacy NQF Level 1.
  • Grade 9 certificate.

ASSESSMENT

  • Workbook completion.
  • Practical demonstration of First Aid skills.
  • If found ‘not yet competent’, an attendance certificate will be issued

AWARD

  • TETA accredited competence certificate.
  • TETA Statement of Result. (approx. 8 – 10 months).
  • Digital certificates only.
  • Valid for 3 years.
  • Certificates will be issued within 10 working days from successful completion of training.
